B&K camp hosts 93 future players

93 campers participated in the 24th annual B&K Basketball Camp held last week in Paden City. The camp featured fundamental drills concentrating on ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding; team offense and defense among other basketball related activities.

Ninety-three campers in grades K-8 attended the 24th annual B&K Basketball Camp in Paden City last week where fundamentals of the game were taught. Coaches from all over the area as well as successful college and high school athletes participated at the camp.

During the week, daily ribbons were presented in several categories to campers (including academics), with medals presented to top winners on Friday. Campers were given participation certificates and evaluation sheets at the end of camp.

The B&K Basketball Camp featured fundamental drills concentrating on ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding; team offense and defense; video tape instruction; foul shooting contest; hot spots contest; three point shooting contest; one-on-one competition; athletic evaluation that includes standing broad jump, vertical leap, jump rope, shuttle run and lateral movement; and an awards ceremony.

Daily boy and girl ribbon winners in each grade were as follows:

Kindergarten girls – Throughout the entire week, Hallie Myer won the free throws, hot spots and 3 pt. shot contests.

Kindergarten boys – Ty Walton won the free throw contest on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; and Aaron Thorn won on Thursday and Friday. Walton took the top spot in the Hot Spots contest all week and the 3-pt shot contest every day but Thursday, and Aaron Thorn won the competition on that day.

First grade boys: Grant Barnhart won the three throw contest on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the hot spots contest every day, and the 3-pt contest on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Brandon Lawhon won the free throw contest on Thursday, Bryce Amos won on Friday. Lawhon won the 3 pt shot contest on Wednesday and Friday.

Second grade girls – Cassidy Sine won the free throws on Monday and Thursday, and the hot spots on Friday; Mady Winters won the free throws on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, the hot spots on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and the 3 pt contest the last three days of the week. Regan Smith won the hot spots on Tuesday and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday and Tuesday.

Second grade boys – Ty Cain took the top spot in the free throws on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, hot spots on the last four days of the week; and the 3 pt shot contest on the first three days of competition. Carson Palmer won the free throws on Wednesday and Thursday; and the 3 pt shot contest on Thursday and Friday.

Third grade girls – Kyndra Pilant won the free throws on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, the hot spot contest on Wednesday and Thursday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ashley Kelly won the free throws on Tuesday and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday. Elizabeth Brown won the free throws on Friday, the hot spots on Tuesday and Friday and the 3 pt shot contest on Thursday. Megan Myer won the 3 pt shot on Friday.

Third grade boys – Colton Lawrence won the free throws on Monday and Friday, the hot spots on Monday and Thursday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday. Braden Rine won the free throws on Monday. Wade Smitley won the free throws on Wednesday and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday. Abe Satterfield won the free throws on Thursday, the hot spots on Tuesday and Friday. Aidan Cosper won the 3 pt shots on Wednesday. Jason Anderson took the top spot in the 3 pt shot contest on Thursday and Friday.

Fourth grade girls – Lauren Flannery won the free throws every day except Monday and Tuesday, she won the hot spots every day and the 3 pt shots on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Emily Lancaster won the free throws on Monday. Riley Lollathin won the free throws on Tuesday and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Fourth grade boys – Trey Slider won the free throw contest on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; the hot spot contest on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the 3 pot shots on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Nathan Barker won the free throws on Tuesday, the hot spots on Tuesday and Friday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday. Tyler West won the free throws on Thursday. Jacob Miller won the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday.

Fifth grade girls – Caitlin Stewart won the free throws on Monday and the 3 pt shot on Friday. Ashlynn Filliez won the free throws on Tuesday and Friday, and the 3 pt shot on Monday. Logan Spencer won the free throws on Wednesday and Thursday, the hot spots every day of the week, and the 3 pt shots on Tuesday. Mackenzie Drake won the 3 pt shot contest on Wednesday and Thursday.

Fifth grade boys – Tyler Kocher won the free throws on Monday and Tuesday, the hot spots on Wednesday and Thursday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday. Mark Wilson won the free throws on Wednesday and Thursday. Dylan Roberts won the free throws on Friday, the hot spots on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Kyle Mason won the 3 pt shot contest every day except Monday.

Sixth grade girls – Taylor Ludewig won the free throws every day except Wednesday and the 3 pt shot contest every day except Tuesday. Rachel Baker won the free throws on Wednesday, she won the hot spots contest every day of the week, and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday.

Sixth grade boys – Wyatt Smitley won the free throws on Monday and the 3 pt shot on Monday. Will Billeter won the free throws on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, the hot spots on Friday, and the 3 pt shot on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Peyton Michaels won the free throws on Thursday, the hot spots on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the 3 pt shot on Tuesday. Cameron Archer won the hot spots on Monday.

Seventh grade girls – Katelyn Brown won the free throws on Monday and Tuesday, the hot spots on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and the 3 pt shots on Tuesday and Wednesday. Jenna Snodgrass won the free throws on Wednesday. Erin Brown won the free throws on Thursday, the hot spots on Thursday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Monday. Taylor Cosper won the free throws on Friday, the hot spots on Friday and the 3 pt shot contest on Thursday and Friday.

Seventh grade boys – Colton Larsen won the free throws on Monday and Wednesday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday and Wednesday. Chase Miller won the free throws on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, he won the hot spots every day of the week, and the 3 pt shot on Monday and Friday. Blaze Amos won the 3 pt shot on Thursday.

Eighth grade girls – Kayla Hizer won the free throws on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; the hot spots on Monday, and the 3 pt shot on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Sadie Helmick won the free throws on Wednesday, and the hot spots on Wednesday. Megan Pierce won the hot spots on every day except Monday and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday.

Eighth grade boys – Kennedy Cain won the free throw contest on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, the hot spots on Monday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Friday. Addison O’brien won the free throws on Wednesday, and the 3 pt shot on Wednesday and Thursday. Trenton Barnhart won the free throws on Thursday. Tony Drazba won the hot spots contest on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and the 3 pt shot contest on Tuesday. Kane Pyles won the 3 pt shot contest on Monday.

Medals were awarded on Friday at the end of camp in five categories (foul shooting, hot spots, 3 pt shots, one-on-one and academic), for each grade, boy and girls. Medal winners are listed below in order of gold, silver and bronze:

Kindergarten girls – Hallie Meyer won gold in each each contest including academics where Aaron Thorn and Justin Barker placed second and third respectively.

Kindergarten boys: Foul shots – Ty Walton, Justin Barker, Aaron Thorn. Hot spots – Ty Walton, Aaron Thorn, Justin Barker; 3 pt shot – Ty Walton, Justin Barker and Aaron Thorn; One-on-one – Ty Walton, Justin Barker, Aaron Thorn.
