B&K Camp seeks campers
In their 24th year, the B & K Basketball Camp will again include coaches from all over the area, successful college and high school athletes, as well as a certified athletic trainer. In addition to a fast paced week of basketball instruction, each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, daily refreshments, participation certificates, an evaluation sheet, as well as awards, which include medals, daily ribbons, and daily hustle awards. Again this year the B and K Basketball Camp will be conducting one session per day. This is an attempt to alleviate some of the problems that have been experienced in the past, such as campers needing to leave camp early during the afternoon session. This does not seem to be a problem in the morning. It is hoped that this will make things easier for those parents with a younger and older child attending camp as well.
The Pee Wee group (K-2) will continue to meet in the air conditioned Multi-purpose building and the 3rd and 4th graders will join the 5th thru 8th graders in the gym. Camp competitions will continue by grade level/gender and team play will be divided into grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.
The B&K Basketball Camp will feature fundamental drills concentrating on ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding; team offense and defense; video tape instruction; foul shooting contest; hot spots contest; three point shooting contest; one-on-one competition; athletic evaluation that includes standing broad jump, vertical leap, jump rope, shuttle run and lateral movement; and an awards ceremony.
The camp welcomes any boy or girl who will be in grades K-8 during the 2010-11 school year. Pre-registrations are encouraged, but registrations will also be taken on the first day of camp. The camp will be held from June 14 – 18 at Paden City High School’s Bob Burton Gymnasium from 8 a.m. until noon. The price of the camp will be $50 per camper; $45 for the second camper per family; $40 per camper for each additional camper per family.
