TCMS VOLLEYBALL

The Tyler Consolidated Middle School volleyball team will begin practice and tryouts on Monday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 at the TCMS gymnasium. Any middle school girl in grades 7 or 8 interested in playing should plan to attend.

All students trying out for the team must bring a completed physical form on the first day of practice. No student without a completed physical form will be permitted to practice. Forms are available at the office in the middle school. In addition, a proof of insurance form and a copy of the student’s birth certificate are required.

GIRLS?BASKETBALL

SKILLS?CAMP

A basketball camp will be held at the old Sistersville High School gym for girls in grades 4 through 6.

The cost of the camp will be $20 and will last three days a week for six weeks.

Sign ups will be Monday, Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. which will also be the first day of camp.

Skills covered will be ball handling, proper shooting techniques, agility drills, and five on five pick up games.

YOUTH?SOCCER

The last day for youth soccer sigups will be Monday, Aug. 17. It will be for kids ages 4 to 11.

Come to the park on Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. to sign up. Practice will begin immediately after that time. The fee will be $25 per child.

MEN’S SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

There will be a men’s softball tournament on Aug. 22 and 23 by the Sistersville Parks and Recreation. There will be an entry fee per team with pay-outs being awarded to first, second and third place teams.

MEET THE TEAM

The Tyler Consolidated boosters will be sponsoring a “Meet the Team” night Monday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m.

There will be a street carnival in the lower parking lot near the softball field. Food, inflatable rides, wagon rides, children’s games, and karaoke will be held until 7:30.

The fall sports athtletes will be introduced beginning at 7:30. The Family Resource Network will sponsor a “Back to School” dance from 9-11 in the gym to complete the evening.

CORRECTION

In last week’s edition of the Tyler Star News, Kim Weekley’s race time was not provided in the results of the Jug Handle 5K. Weekley finished with a time of 34:51.

HOLE?IN?ONE

Junior Fox had a hole-in-one on the No. 1 hole at Sistersville Country Club.

It was 183 yards long and hit with a 7 wood. It was his first ever hole-in-one.

Witnesses were Dave Miller, Rob Amos, and Tim Meeks.
