Afternoon rain and heavy evening thunderstorms rolled through the Middlebourne area, washing out the Saturday racingprogram which was to include the BRP Modified Tour and giving Mother Nature yet another impressive victory.The Tyler County Speedway will look to rebound this weekend as the bullring will kick off the Annual Tyler County Fair with a special Sunday Night show.

The next scheduled event at ‘the Bullring’ will be theSunday, Aug. 2 with the running of the22nd Annual Earl Hill Memorial. This Sunday night they will honor the legendary Earl Hill in a $3,000 to win UFo Race Championship Super Late Model Invitational as the road to the Hillbilly Hundred hits the home stretch.Also the prestigious Earl Hill Memorial race will be the Late Model “Hillbilly Qualifier” event that will provide the first entrant into the granddaddy Hillbilly 100 race on Labor day weekend.

Last year’s Earl Hill Memorial, UFo sanctioned event at Tyler County was won by Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va. over a 51-car field.Tyler County Speedway has gained notorietywithdirt racing fans for generating some of the closest, most exciting racing in the nation. The wide, high-banked quarter mile constantly provides three- and even four-wide racing and photo finishes. This event pays tribute to Earl Hill, a West Virginia racing legend and many time track champion at Tyler County.

Payout for the UFo Super Late Models for the ‘Mach41’-lap “Earl Hill Championship” is $3,000 for first place, $1,400 for second,$1,000 for third, $750 for fourth, $600 for fifth,$550 for sixth, $500 for seventh,$450 for eighth, $425 for ninth, $400 for 10th, $390 for 11th,$375 for 12th, $360for 13th, $350 14th,$340for 15th,$325 for 16th, and $300 for 17th through 24th. There is $100 tow money for any car that races and does not qualify for the feature.This event will have no Super Late Model car entry fee.

Also on the special Sunday night card will be racing action featuringthe FASTRAK Late Models, TSMA modifieds, Hot Mods, Pure Stocks, Junkyard Warriors, Mod Lites and Mini-Wedges.Tyler County Speedway has made it priority in 2009 to put theSuper Late Model feature on the track by 9:30 p.m.Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hotlaps at 6:30and racingat 7.?The action is guaranteed to be “out of this world” as the UFo Late Models hit the Bullring highbanksthis Sunday.
