CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN — Team WesBanco shows off the trophy for winning the VFW scholarship golf scramble.

The Sistersville Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6327 recently held their ninth annual scholarship golf scramble at the Sistersville Country Club on Saturday, July 11.

This year was another success as the event raised $3,000 to go towards three $1,000 scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year. They go to graduates from Tyler Consolidated, Paden City, and Magnolia high schools.

Last year’s winners were Jacob T. Lash from Tyler Consolidated, Kara Jo Wilcox from Paden City, and Joseph Eli Kindzicra from Magnolia.

Many teams contributed with six teams placing, but once the event was finished, Team WesBanco won back the trophy after winning it in 2007.

Members of this year’s team included Dave Mendenhall, John Mendenhall, Josh Mace, and Rick Rhodes.

Scott Beagle was selected to take a shot at $1 million on Hole No. 1, but came up short after slicing it to the right. After the event, WesBanco representative Tammy Bowers was presented a check from the VFW.
