Paden City High School 2009 alumna and multiple-sport standout Kim Davis has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic career at West Liberty University as a member of the Lady Hilltopper women’s softball team, while pursuing a degree in nursing.

WLU Head Softball Coach Herb Minch is “pleased to have Kim on our upcoming roster,” where she will pitch. Davis brings a wealth of experience from her high school career.

“Not only is West Liberty getting quite a softball competitor in Kim Davis,” said Penny Baker, “but they are also getting a nice girl that has a lot of heart.”

As a senior, Davis threw 145 innings and struck out 213. For her career, she was five strikeouts short of 500. In the dish, she recorded five doubles and a home run, while batting .224 and stealing 19 bases. She also knocked in a team-high 17 base runners.

Besides softball, Davis was instrumental in the Wildcats’ victory in the Mason-Dixon Conference volleyball championship, the WVSSAC Section I title, coming in a single win away from making it to the state tournament.

She also was a cheerleader and ran track her freshman year. Davis was a co-captain of the volleyball team her senior season and was the softball co-captain her junior and senior seasons.

In addition, Davis was in the National Honor Society her sophomore, junior and senior year and was a homecoming queen candidate. She also worked on the yearbook staff during her senior year and served as her class vice president all four years. She also participated in the quizbowl and sciencebowl.

When Davis wasn’t busy in sports and school activities, she was involved in community service, where she helped out in Relay For Life, Wheeling Christmas Parade, New Martinsville Christmas Parade, window painting at the post office, Esther Crumbley food distribution, the PCHS Alumni Banquet, Pennies for Patients, Wings for Children, and COSI.
