Upcoming events and announcements around the area

By Staff | Jun 10, 2009

Paden City High School will host its 23rd annual B & K Basketball Camp during the week of Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 19. The camp staff will include coaches from all over the area, successful college and high school athletes, as well as a certified athletic trainer.

Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt, daily refreshments, participation certificates, an evaluation sheet, as well as awards, which include medals, daily ribbons, and daily hustle awards.

Again, this year the B & K Basketball Camp will be conducting one session per day in an attempt to alleviate some of the problems they have experienced in the past, such as campers needing to leave camp early during the afternoon session.

They also hope this makes things easier for those parents with a younger and older child attending the camp.

The pee wee group (grades K through 2) will meet in the air conditioned Multi-purpose building and the 3rd and 4th graders will join the fifth through eighth graders in the gym.

Competitions will continue to be by grade level and gender and team play will be divided into grades 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. The camp welcomes any boy or girl who will be in grades K through 8 during the 2009-10 school year. Pre-registration is suggested, but you can also register on the first day of camp.

The camp will feature fundamental drills concentrating on ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding, team offense and defense, video tape instruction, foul shooting contests, hot spot contests, three-point shooting contest, one on one competition, athletic evaluation that includes standing broad jump, vertical leap, jump rope, shuttle run, and lateral movement. For information, contact Fred King at 304-337-8614 or Jeff Bowers at 304-771-1738.
