Lady ‘Cats lose two on the week

By Staff | Apr 29, 2009

The Paden City Wildcats softball team faced a rough week as they were beat in their only two games by Cameron and Weirton Madonna.

In the first matchup, the Lady ‘Cats fell behind early against the Lady Dragons, giving up nine runs in the first three innings leading to a 12-4 decision in favor of the Marshall County school.

Paden City made a comeback attempt in the fourth with three runs to make the score 9-4, but a three-run sixth by the Dragons ended any hopes of pulling off the upset.

Five errors hurt the ‘Cats while their offense made the best of the opportunities given them on four miscues by Cameron.

Kim Davis finished with six strikeouts in the losing cause while Ashley Efaw provided the Wildcats’ only hit.

PADEN CITY 0, MADONNA 15

In the OVAC quarterfinals on Monday, the woes continued as Paden City traveled to Weirton to take on the Madonna Blue Dons.

It wouldn’t take long for the hosts to get started as they reached double digits in the third by scoring 10 runs to make it 11-0.

Weirton Madonna would send Paden City home early in the next inning by scoring four runs for the 15-0 mercy-rule shortened decision that saw the Lady ‘Cats only get one hit on the powerful Hancock County school.
