Speedway Test ‘n’ Tune Weekend postponed

By Staff | Apr 1, 2009

BDS Racing Promotions pulled the plug on weekend practice slated for Saturday, March 28 or Sunday, March 29.

After a couple days of steady rain that slowed progress in putting the final touches on swinging the gates open and a less than desirable weekend forecast have forced the cancellation.

This will give those racers who are still burning the midnight oil in prepping their 09 rides one last weekend to do so.

Test n Tune practice is currently scheduled for Wednesday Night, April 1st and it’s no April fools as the 35th Season Opener at the ‘bullring’ will take the green on Saturday Night, April 4th. For more information visit www.tylercountyspeedway.net.

Tri-State Modifieds Association will kick the 2009 season off on Friday Night, April 3rd at the Midway Speedway in Crooksville, Ohio and on the Saturday Night, April 4th at Tyler County Speedway.

Tyler County Speedway is pleased to offer the bullring for the maiden voyage weekend for the newly- founded series of Tye Twarog and look forward to hosting the region’s top open wheel warriors. This will be the first weekend for TSMA points, so don’t miss out and be there!

BDS Racing Promotions will open the tire rule for the upcoming 2009 racing season in the super late model division.

This is new for 2009!

The ‘bullring’ known to hosting some of the region’s best racers and biggest special events will have the option of choosing their tire brand of choice in the speedway’s premier division.

To the Tyler County Speedway Fastrak members, your Goodyear Tire Dealer is now in place.

Doug Doak will handle all Goodyear Tire sales effective immediately.

He will have a full line of Goodyear FASTRAK Late Model tires and also hopes to have e-mod tires within the next week to ten days. For orders call Doug at 304-771-6335.

Tires will be available on practice day as well.

In a nearly unprecedented manner, the two tracks will be working very closely together in an effort to reward and encourage the FASTRAK racers in our area to become even more competitive by offering a “stimulus” package to the combined highest points man with a $1,000 bonus being awarded to the winner. The bonus is intended to be used to help pay for the points champs effort to compete at the FASTRAK Grand Nationals at the end of the season.

Only FASTRAK members who have competed in at least 12 FASTRAK-sanctioned events will be eligible for the bonus, as well as competing in the FASTRAK Grand Nationals.

“It’s wonderful seeing tracks working together,” stated FASTRAK Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. ” That’s been our goal from day one with FASTRAK in the Northeast from standard rules to working with each other on scheduling Touring events. Now the news of this (Road to the FASTRAK Grand Nationals) program just takes that one step further, and what a tremendous incentive this will be for the Elkins/ Tyler County regulars. It just goes to show how working together benefits everyone.”

Congratulations to Angela Michaels of Greenwood, WV for winning the “Name That Series” contest. Angela came up with the name “Mountain State’s King of the Crates” for the 2-track challenge and will receive the cash equivalent of 2 opening day general admission passes: 1 for Tyler County and 1 for Elkins Speedway.

BDS Promotions of Tyler County Speedway will offer the Hot Mod racers an opportunity to cash in on a bonus if they compete at both the Midway & Tyler County Speedways.

The Hot Mod driver with the best average finish between the two tracks on the same weekend will receive a $50 bonus at ‘the Bullring’ pay window.

To qualify for the ‘Bullring Bonus’, the racer must have ran the previous night at Midway.

The Hot Mod driver who has the best average finish in the two consecutive nights of racing (Midway on Friday, Tyler County on Saturday) will receive the bonus.

The driver doesn’t have to win either feature, just have the best average finish of those eligible.
