Eliana “Win 3” Winfrey
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights girls wrestling team was well represented at the West Virginia state tournament held in Huntington over the weekend of March 7, highlighted by another dominant performance from senior standout Eliana Winfrey.
Winfrey, the defending state champion, successfully defended her crown capturing her third consecutive state championship. She powered through the tournament with authority, winning every match by pin, all in the first period and picking up her 100th win along the way.
The victory capped off a remarkable career for Winfrey at Tyler Consolidated. She finishes with an outstanding 101-8 record and leaves the program as one of its most accomplished wrestlers.
The Silver Knights were also represented by Arianna Hartline, Miya Johnson, Eli Dutton, and Toni Thomas. While none were able to advance to the championship finals, several picked up key victories along the way.
Hartline recorded two wins during the tournament, while Thomas earned one victory. Johnson and Dutton battled hard but were eliminated during the early rounds.
Despite the tough competition at the state level, Tyler Consolidated’s strong showing, led by Winfrey’s historic third straight title, highlighted the continued growth of the Lady Knights wrestling program.
