Silver Knights Fall on Homecoming Night

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights fell short in their bid for their fifth win on Homecoming Night at Knight Stadium on Friday, October 24 to the South Harrison Hawks by the score of 22-14. The Knights would hit the scoreboard first on a 39 yard pass and run from Ashton Morris to Gideon Winfrey. The extra point by Tom Etienne was good and the Knights led 7-0 at the 7:34 mark of the first quarter. South Harrison would answer with 3:15 to go in the first with a long scoring drive to pull within one at 7-6, the two point try was no good. The Hawks would add another score in the second quarter and led 14-7 headed to halftime.

The second half started with South Harrison receiving the kickoff and going on a eight minute drive, capping it off on a four yard run to extend their lead to 22-7 headed to the fourth quarter. The Knights were not done as they managed to hit pay dirt on a one yard run by Cayden Hall and Etienne kick with 7:28 to play to pull within eight at 22-14.

The Silver Knight offense was held to only 190 yards of total offense with 56 yards on the ground and 134 through the air. Gideon Winfrey led the way with 32 yards rushing, way below his average, and one touchdown, followed by Cayden Hall with 12 yards, and one touchdown, Maddox Corley with four, Ashton Morris with three and Austin Peck with five. Through the air Ashton Morris was nine for 12 passing. Gideon Winfrey had two catches for 58 yards, Kolbin Highley with three catches for 44 yards, Kayden Utt one catch for 17 yards, Cayden Hall one catch for 11 yards and Austin Peck two catches for four yards.

Defensively the Knights had two players hit double figures in solo tackles led by Kayden Utt with 12 and Cayden Hall with 10. Gideon Winfrey chipped in with seven solo tackles, Garrett Bordenkircher with nine, Israel Winfrey with five and Sawyer Kunkel with six solos.

The Silver Knights will hope to keep their playoff hopes alive when they hit the road to take on the much improved St Marys Blue Devils on Friday October 31.

During the halftime activities, five TCHS Seniors were introduced with their escorts vying for Homecoming Queen. The senior court included Macie Highley, Tiauna Mathis, Macey Shuman, Keyonna Weber and Eliana Winfrey with Keyonna Weber taking the 2025 crown. Eliana Winfrey was chosen as first runner up. Crowning this year’s queen was last year’s Homecoming Queen Ava Mongold.

Making up the rest of the TCHS Homecoming Court was Freshmen Princesses Shiloh Dillaman and Holly Johnson. Sophomore Princesses were Addison Reed and Belladonna Abigail Rich. Junior Princesses were Ayo Marie Buerger and Raylynn Heintzman.
