Silver Knights Stumble After Fast Start, Fall 47-8 to Doddridge County

By Randy Rutherford - Staff Writer | Sep 16, 2025

What started as a promising night for the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights quickly unraveled, as they fell 47-8 to the Doddridge County Bulldogs on Friday night September 12 at Knights Stadium.

The Silver Knights struck first, capitalizing on a muffed punt by the Bulldogs early in the first quarter. Tyler Consolidated wasted no time turning the miscue into points, punching it in for an early 8-0 lead and setting the tone with strong field position and momentum on their side. But that would be the last time the scoreboard favored the home team.

Doddridge County regrouped and responded in dominant fashion, reeling off 47 unanswered points behind a balanced offensive attack and a stingy defense that smothered the Silver Knights the rest of the way. The Bulldogs took control of the line of scrimmage and never looked back, turning the tide midway through the first half and cruising to a convincing win under the lights.

The Silver Knight offense was held in check, combining for only 85 yards in total offense with 41 yards coming on the ground and 44 yards through the air.

Defensively the Knights were again led by Garrett Bordenkircher with eight solo tackles. Kayden Utt followed with seven solo tackles, Brayden Neff added four solo tackles and Israel Winfrey chipped in with five solo tackles.

With the loss, Tyler Consolidated looks to regroup as they prepare for next week’s matchup when they will host Petersburg on Friday, September 19.
