TCHS Football Holds Scrimmages
Tyler Consolidated got their first look at live football in a tri-scrimmage against Frontier and Gilmer County at Knight Stadium on Saturday August 16. “We got a lot accomplished and saw many good things in our first scrimmage; having a tri-event allows you to face different looks, plays, formations, and competitors. Our guys showed up and executed well throughout the day,” Said Coach Kyle Ritz. The coach went on to acknowledge the team has several key things they need to focus on for the week one game coming up on August 29th.
The Silver Knights played host to Linsly on Thursday, August 21 in their final tune up scrimmage before setting their sights on the season opener on August 29. “We accomplished exactly what you’d want to in a scrimmage. Linsly was big, physical, fast, and talented. They gave us many looks on both sides of the ball that you don’t always see in AA football. We felt that our guys competed extremely hard, as the scrimmage went on. As a staff, we felt that the heat and wear from the game was getting to us causing some missed assignments and opportunities for us to make big plays,” said Coach Ritz. The Knights will continue to work on their game style endurance throughout practice, watching film, and make the necessary adjustments to put them in better position against their season opener opponent on the road at Ritchie County.
