Football season may still be months away, but fans got a preview of what’s to come Thursday morning as Tyler Consolidated, River High School, and Gilmer County High School clashed in their first preseason 7-on-7 competition.

The informal scrimmage gave coaches and players alike a chance to shake off the offseason rust and evaluate their aerial attacks in a fast-paced, no-contact setting focused on the passing game.

For all three coaching staffs, it was a valuable first look at their teams’ timing, chemistry, and depth in the skill positions.

“This is a great way for us to evaluate where we are in terms of communication and execution,” said one of the head coaches. “It’s still early, but there’s a lot to be excited about.”

With summer workouts in full swing, Thursday’s competition was a reminder that football season is just around the corner–and these teams are already putting in the work.
