The Paden City Wildcats endured a rough outing on Monday, April 28, falling 26-0 to the visiting Belpre Golden Eagles in a five-inning contest ended by the mercy rule.
Belpre jumped out to a commanding lead early, plating eight runs in the first two innings. The Golden Eagles broke the game wide open with back-to-back nine-run innings in the fourth and fifth, leaving the Wildcats unable to recover.
Offensively, Paden City was limited to just three hits on the day, with Jack Nelson, Garrett Parish, and Isaiah LaPlante each recording a single. Despite putting the ball in play, the Wildcats couldn’t push a run across the plate.
Four pitchers saw action for Paden City in the loss, with Jake Nelson taking the loss on the mound.
