Silver Knights Fall to Eagles in Rain-Shortened LKC Battle
Brayden Neff makes the play at short.
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights played host to the Braxton County Eagles in a Little Kanawha Conference showdown on Tuesday, April 29, but came up just short in a 1-0 loss that ended prematurely due to severe weather.
Although the final score favored the visiting Eagles, the outcome didn’t fully reflect the competitive nature of the game. The contest was halted in the bottom of the fifth inning as lightning and heavy rain rolled through the area, forcing officials to call the game early.
Prior to first pitch, both coaching staffs had agreed that in the event of inclement weather, the game would be considered official at whatever point it was stopped. That agreement ultimately sealed the narrow win for Braxton County when Mother Nature intervened.
Despite the shortened contest, the Silver Knights showed flashes of strong play and will look to bounce back as the season continues.
