The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights put on an offensive clinic Monday evening, April 28, as they overwhelmed the Beallsville Blue Devils 22-3 in a five-inning mercy-rule victory.
Despite a rocky start that saw Beallsville jump out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Silver Knights wasted no time responding. Tyler answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, followed by five in the second, three in the third, and a massive 10-run explosion in the fourth inning to seal the lopsided win.
Power hitting was the theme of the night for Tyler. Nate Deaton led the charge with two home runs, while Colby Nichols added an inside-the-park homer and Gabe Jackson joined the slugfest with a blast of his own and four RBI’s
The Silver Knights racked up 17 hits in total, with 10 different players contributing to the offensive outburst. Brayden Neff paced the lineup, going 3-for-3 at the plate and scoring four runs. Jackson also had a perfect night at the dish, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and four RBI’s, while Landon Boggs drove in five runs on a 2-for-2 performance. The Knights used four different pitchers with Brayden Neff picking up the win.
Prior to the game the Knights honored four seniors in their final campaign as a Silver Knight and they went out on top in the victory. Honored were Colby Nichols, Gabe and Isaac Jackson and Nate Deaton.
