The Gilmer County Lady Titans dominated the diamond Wednesday, April 30, sweeping a doubleheader against the Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights with decisive scores of 10-0 and 15-4 on the turf in Kidwell.
In Game 1, Gilmer’s pitching silenced the Lady Knights’ bats, holding them hitless in a commanding shutout victory. McKenzie Utt started on the mound for Tyler Consolidated, striking out six but allowing 10 hits as the Lady Titans rolled to a 10-0 win.
Game 2 saw a more competitive start, with the Lady Knights trailing just 7-3 after three innings. However, a crushing eight-run fourth inning by Gilmer County put the game out of reach.
Jahaila Gorrel led the offense for Tyler Consolidated in the second game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two RBIs. Hailey Sandy, Izzie Murray, Jaedyen Gump, and McKenzie Farrell each chipped in with one hit apiece. Sandy also took the loss in the circle for the Lady Knights.
The Lady Knights will look to bounce back as they prepare for their next matchup.
