Wetzel Chronicle / Tyler Star News 2024-2025 All Star Basketball Team

First Team:

Co. Captain Sr. Gavin Derby, Lumberjacks, Valley high school. Valley’s all-time scoring leader with 1,825 points during his career. Derby averaged 22.3 PPG this past season, plus six rebounds, four steals and four assists per game.

Co. Captain Jr. Kingston Christen, Blue Eagles, Magnolia high school. Christen led the Blue Eagles to the state tournament, while averaging 21.5 points while pulling down 6 rebounds and dishing out four assists per game over the course of his junior season. He hit for a game high 19 points in a tough loss to Tucker County in Charleston.

Colt Sandy, Jr., Hornets, Hundred High School. Sandy had an outstanding junior season for the Hornets, averaging 19.5 points and 16.5 rebounds per game. He pulled down his 1,000th career rebound this season.

Brayden Neff, Jr. Wildcats, Paden City high school, led the Wildcats in scoring with 460 points, for 20 points per game average including four games in a row over 30. He ended his last season as a Wildcat with 20 blocks, 46 offensive rebounds, 99 defense rebounds, 80 steals, 45 assists, and made 131-384 FG’s.

Peyton Blue, Sr. Pilots, River high school led the Pilots in scoring and rebounding. Blue is a first team All-OVAC athlete in two sports. He is a three sport standout for the Pilots. His 6-2 280 pound frame made him a tough matchups for opposing teams. Peyton hit 13 points per game and pulled down eight rebounds.

Trevor Stackpole, Sr. Lumberjacks, Valley high school. Stackpole was the best shot in the county. He had several games over 20 during the season. He set the school record of nine 3-pointers in a game. He averaged 16 points a game, three rebounds, two steals and three assists

Brady Strode, Sr. Silver Knights, Tyler Consolidated high school. Strode was Mr. Everything for the Silver Knights as the senior All-LKC player led the Knights in points and rebounds. He averaged 15 points a game and hit the 1000 point mark for his career during the season. He also averaged 7 rebounds and 5 assists a game.
