Silver Knights Split Double Header with Wirt

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights hosted Wirt County on Saturday, March 22 in a double header on turf in Kidwell in baseball action. In game one the Knight offense was held in check as they fell 11-1 to the Tigers. The Knights fell behind 4-0 after three innings and surrendered six more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. The Silver and Black would push across one run in the fourth but that was all the offense they had in the five inning mercy rule game. The Knights would only manage six hits led by Reese Davis with two, Nate Deaton, Isaac Jackson, Gabe Jackson and Sawyer Kunkel each with one hit apiece. Brennon Miller would take the loss on the mound for the Knights.

Game 2 was a tale of two cities as the Knight offense came alive to defeat the Tigers 19-9. The Knights jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of first but would give up three to Wirt in the bottom of the first. Tyler would push across two runs in the second and the score remained tied until the fourth inning when the Knight offense started clicking and scored six runs. The big bat at the plate for the Knights was Reese Davis who went five for five including a grand slam in the sixth. Davis would score two runs and added seven RBIs to end his day. Also adding to the Knights hit total was Gabe Jackson, Brayden Neff, Landon Boggs, Nate Deaton, Isaac Jackson, Brennon Miller and Sawyer Kunkel all with one hit apiece. Colby Nichols added a triple in the sixth driving in one run. Four pitchers would see action on the mound for the Knights with Isaac Jackson picking up the win.
