Lady Knights Advance in Regional Action

Jules Lattea hits the open jumper in recent action.
The Lady Knights advanced in the Region 1 Regional Tournament with a hard fought 59-53 victory over the Oak Glen Lady Golden Bears in New Cumberland, WV on Friday night February 28. The game was close throughout with the Knights finally taking the lead in the third quarter. Trailing 10-6 after the first quarter and 25-21 at the half the Lady Knights would outscored the Lady Bears 16-8 in the third to lead 37-33 heading to the fourth quarter. The lead was all they needed as they fought off a hard charging Oak Glen in the fourth frame outscoring the Bears 22-20 to hold on for the victory. Leading the way for the Knights was Juls Lattea with a game high 21 points and eight rebounds. Katie Grimm followed with double digits scoring 13. Ryland Henderson chipped in with nine and Riley Stover and Addison Reed each added seven points.
The win moves the Lady Knights record to 10-12 with a round two Region 1 match up set for March 5 on the road at number 1 seed Wheeling Central with the winner advancing to the state tournament in Charleston. It will be a tall task for the Lady Knights as they were defeated 88-39 back in December also at Wheeling Central. The Lady Knights have shown much improvement since that game and are on a three game winning streak. Look for them to come out strong against the Maroon Knights.
