Tyler Consolidated’s Amos Kimble wins Region 1 Class A Cross Country Championship

The 2024 Region 1 Class A Cross Country Championship was held at St. Marys high school on Thursday, October 24, 2024 with St. Marys winning the team event, while Tyler Consolidated junior Amos Kimble was the individual winner.

The rugged 5-K race which featured several of the state’s top Class A performers had three runners from Tyler Consolidated finish in the top 10 while Magnolia placed runners in second place and ninth. The Silver Knights Kimble continued to show his dominance as he took an early lead and finished strong to capture first place in a time of 15:44.5. His closest competitor was Magnolia’s All-State performer Senior Landen Davis who crossed the finish line in a time of 16:09.81. Coming in third and close behind Davis was Silver Knight sophomore Travis Moore with a good effort at 16:16.84. Ritchie County took the fourth place spot and St. Marys claimed the next four positions. Magnolia junior Riley Dennis earned his way to state with a 9th place finish in a time of 16:59.02. Rounding out the top 10 was Tyler’s Brody Nice, a sophomore who finished in a time of 16:59.49.

The Blue Eagles finished second overall as a team with an impressive team time of 1:30:30.95 and an average runner time of 18:06.19. The Silver Knights took third place with a team time of 1:31:49.47 and an average runner time of 18:21.90.

Magnolia’s Parker Werkau finished with a time of 17:56.07. Teammate Corey Trotto ran an 18:30.35. Paden City’s Jack Nelson crossed the line in a time of 20:19.53. Magnolia’s Alex Yeager came in at 20:55.70.

Tyler Consolidated got scoring help from runners Malakhi Davis with a 21:13.01, Jonathan Cross, 21:35.68, and Trey Myer with a 22:13.93. Nicholas Matheney of Magnolia finished with a 24:30.01.

These runners will represent Magnolia and Tyler Consolidated at the State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Cabell Midland high school.
