Lady Silver Knights Finish Runner Up in LKC

The Lady Knights of Tyler Consolidated entered the LKC Championship with a title on their mind. The Knights were successful sweeping their side of the bracket defeating Doddridge, Ritchie County and Gilmer County to make their way to the championship match vs Ravenswood.

Against Gilmer the Knights prevailed by the scores of 25-18 and 25-14. Leading the way was Kayli West with seven kills, three points, four blocks and five digs. She was followed by Katie Grimm with a team high eight kills and 12 digs. Raylynn Heintzman hit double figures again with 16 assists. Also lighting up the stat sheet was Hailey Sandy, Macie Higley and Michylnn Morris with a combined 21 digs.

After defeating Gilmer County, who they had lost to earlier in the season, the Lady Knights wasted little time disposing of both Ritchie and Doddridge sweeping both by 2-0 scores. Against Doddridge the Knights combined for 27 kills, 29 points and 34 digs winning by the scores of 25-19 and 25-14. Raylynn Heintzman again hit double digits with 20 assists.

It was a little closer against Ritchie County as the Lady Knights won by the scores of 25-22 and 25-20. Katie Grimm and Kayli West led the Knights with nine and eight kills respectively. Grimm would add seven digs, Macie Highley had five blocks, and Hailey Sandy chipped in with six digs.

The final game of the day saw a match up between the Lady Knights and Ravenswood for the LKC Championship. Unfortunately, for the Knights the Lady Red Devils were on a hot streak, also winning their side of the bracket, and fell by the scores of 25-22 and 25-20. The Knights would combine for 28 digs led by Kayli West with eight and Macie Highley with six. Katie Grimm and Juliana Lattea each recorded nine kills. The loss left the Lady Knights as runner up in the LKC Tournament.

Silver Knights End Regular Season with a Win

Tyler Consolidated wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday October 22 with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Brooke County. Prior to the start of the match Head Coach Chris Bachman presented five of his players with Certificates of Accomplishment. Sophomore Raylynn Heintzman was recognized for 820 career assists, Fellow Sophomore Kayli West was recognized for 320 career kills, Junior Macie Highley was recognized for 638 career digs, Junior Katie Grimm was recognized for 673 career kills and 566 career digs, and Senior Juliana Lattea was recognized for 515 career kills and 309 career blocks. The Lady Knights defeated the Lady Bruins by the scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-19. Katie Grimm, Juliana Lattea and Kayli West provided the spark the Knights needed with a combined 42 kills. Grimm had 13, Lattea had 16 and West added 13. Grimm also added five aces, 10 points and 18 digs. Lattea chipped in with two blocks and three digs. Kayli West had one ace, three points, and six digs. Rounding out the stat sheet was Macie Highley with two aces, 10 points, two blocks and nine digs. Raylynn Heintman added to her season total with 32 assists.

The Lady Knights will now set their sites on the Sectional when they host Wheeling Central on Tuesday October 29. The win over Brooke left the Lady Knights with a season record 24-5.
