Silver Knights Shine in LKC Cross Country

Amos Kimble with the winning run at LKC cross country Championship.
The 2024 Little Kanawha Conference Cross Country Championship was held on Thursday evening in Doddridge County with 91 runners competing in the boys race.
The 5-K course is a challenging course that takes the runners uphill, downhill and through some tough stretches. These are the times dedicated runners look forward to while training year round. On Thursday night the Silver Knights had six runners competing as a team and ended up as the fifth place team among the competition with an average runner time of 18:51.58. Winning the event as a strong Williamstown high school team who finished the event with a total time of 1:26:24.06 and an average runner time of 17:16.82 and three of the top five finishers.
However the highlight of the night came on the heels of Tyler Consolidated junior All-State performer Amos Kimble who took the early lead and outran the competition on his way to the Championship of the event in a blistering time of 15:56.41 to outdistance his closest competitor senior Julian Johnson of Williamstown who finished second nearly a half minute behind Kimble. For those of you who know anything about running, a half minute is huge when it comes to closeness. Kimble, as far as I could see, had the lead for most if not all of the race and put on a final kick to distance himself from the opposition. Backing Kimble in the race was sophomore teammate Travis Moore who cracked the top 10 and came in a close 8th with a time of 16:51.91. Also putting forth a good performance for the Silver Knights was sophomore Brody Nice who made the top 20 with a 15th place finish in a nice time of 17:39.79. Rounding out the scoring for Tyler was Malakhi Davis, a freshman with a 21:50.83 51. Freshman Trey Myer with a 21:58.93 52, and sophomore Jonathan Cross at 22:23.67 56.
Besides Williamstown and Tyler Consolidated, St. Marys finished 2nd, Doddridge County 3rd, Buffalo 4th, Ritchie County 6th, Clay County 7th, Ravenswood 8th, and Poca 9th.
The Silver Knights will be running again tomorrow night at St. Marys in the State Regionals to determine who advances to the State Championship on Saturday, November 2, at Cabell Midland.
