Silver Knights Defeat Magnolia on Homecoming

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights celebrated Homecoming with a 42-0 rout over rival Magnolia on Friday, October 4, before a large crowd at Silver Knight Stadium.

In addition to Homecoming the Knights wore their pink jerseys for “Pink Out” to recognize breast cancer awareness. The Silver Knights got on the board late in the first quarter when Branson Winfrey would go five yards for the score with Nate Deaton adding the PAT and the Knights led 7-0 after the first quarter. The second quarter was all Silver Knights as they would reach paydirt four times increasing the lead to 35-0 at halftime. Branson Winfrey would score two times on a four yard and three yard run followed by two touchdown passes from Brady Strode to Bo Tallman for 20 yards and to Reese Davis for 40 yards. The two point conversion was good. The third quarter saw the Knights increase the lead on a nine yard run by Brady Store with Deaton adding the extra point to round out the scoring for the Silver and Black. Deaton would add four extra point kicks on the night for the Silver. Knights.

Branson Winfrey would rush 13 times for 127 yards and three touchdowns followed by brother Gideon who rushed seven times for 49 yards. Brady Strode would throw for 160 yards on eight of 11 passing and two touchdowns.

Defensively for the Knights Gideon Winfrey, Nate Deaton, Brady Strode, Sawyer Kunkel, Isaiah Miller and Garrett Bordenkircher all had two solo tackles in the shutout of the Blue Eagles.

Homecoming week was celebrated with Camo Day on Monday, Favorite Holiday on Tuesday, Decades on Wednesday, Pink Out on Thursday and Celebrate the USA on Friday. The Homecoming celebration culminated with the crowning of Senior Ava Mongold as the 2024 Homecoming Queen at halftime. Michlynn Morris was voted first runner up.
