The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knight offense found the going tough on Friday night September 27 when they hosted the Cameron Dragons and fell 13-6.

Tyler’s only touchdown came on a blocked punt by Branson Winfrey which he also recovered in the end zone for the touchdown to put the Knights ahead 6-0 early in the first period. The point after failed. Cameron would answer later in the first quarter with 3:29 to go on a 14 yard touchdown run by Klypson Wallace. The extra point was good and Cameron Led 7-6. The second quarter saw both offenses stall until with 1:09 to go before halftime the Dragons would get a 29 yard pass to Slaton Pettit for the score. The point after failed and Cameron led 13-6 at half time. The second half was all defense as either team would reach pay dirt leaving the score 13-6 for the Dragon victory.

The Silver Knights were held to only 186 yards on the ground and through the air. Brady Strode would throw 23 times completing 12 mainly to Bo Tallman who hauled in seven passes for 102 yards. Branson Winfrey and brother Gideon would carry the ball a combined 23 times for 54 yards with Branson picking up 40 of those yards on 14 carries. Reese Davis added another 30 yards on a reverse but the Knight offense could not punch it in the end zone. The Knights made it exciting late in the fourth quarter when they mounted a drive down to the Cameron 12 yard line until a penalty pushed them back and on fourth and eight they failed to convert the first down ending the game.

Defensively for the Silver and Black Gideon Winfrey picked up four solo tackles followed by Reese Davis, Cayden Hall and Garrett Bordenkircher each with three solo tackles. Bordenkircher would add two assists and one tackle for loss. Noah Hood also had three assists and one tackle for loss.

The loss drops the Knights record to 2-2 with a big match up coming on October 4 when they host rival Magnolia for Homecoming. Game time is set for 7:00 PM at Silver Knight Stadium.
