TCHS Archery Competes at Elkview

By Staff | Mar 27, 2024

The Tyler Consolidated High School Archery Team made the foggy trip South to Elkview Middle School for our final team tournament of the season. We finished the day with a team score of 3117 which secured us a 3rd place finish. We had two of our male archers finish in the Male Top 10, 2nd place Briar Utt (288) and 9th place Peyton Headley (274). We also had one of our female archers finish in the Female Top 10, 4th place Nikki Stoller (276). Our Top 12 Team Archers were: Briar Utt (288), Nikki Stoller (276), Peyton Headley (274), Jonathan Throckmorton (271), Lily Thompson (265), Travis Moore (262), Gunner Weekley (256), Aaron Goff (255), Beau Thomas (251), Beau Stewart (244), Juliane Becktoft (241) and Mackenzie Henthorn (234). We finished our regular season on a high note and had several archers shoot their personal bests today. Our team has tip toed the line of reaching our full potential all season. There is a ton of talent in this group and we surely hope they all decide to come back out next season.

Moving forward we have two weeks before John Throckmorton and Briar Utt head to Charleston to be the first TCHS Knights to participate in the state tournament at the 19th annual WVDNR Archery in the Schools State Tournament. We are having a State Bound Send Off BonFire at the Tyler County 4 H Grounds on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 5:30pm and would like to invite the community to come show your support. We greatly appreciate all the support we have received this season and would like to thank Principal Paden Morris for allowing us to use the school’s facilities for our practices. Another big thank you to all the school board members that got the ball rolling with the archery program. We can proudly say that TCHS Archery is and will continue to be a highly competitive team in the NASP Program.
