The Tyler County High School Archery Team had an outstanding day at the 6th Annual “A Sot in the Park” tournament in Triadelphia, WV at the Highlands Sports Complex, and managed to hit their best team score of 2995 to date. Coach James Utt explained, “We’ve been shooting for the 3000-point goal, and we are so close to making it!” Coach Utt went on to say this event was the biggest tournament of the season featuring 120 archers on the line and over 900 archers in total competing. “This tournament had our team intimidated last season and some were after redemption, and that they got. The more experienced students helped calm the nerves of the newer shooters and there was lots of encouragement from everyone keeping the entire team focused. Definitely had a lot of support present from family and friends which is much appreciated!” The top shooter was Briar Utt (280) followed by Mackenzie Henthorn (262), Peyton Headley (258), Beau Thomas (257) and Gunner Weekly (254) to round out the top 5.
