Tyler Consolidated Girls Basketball
The Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights picked up win number three on January 9 at the Castle in Kidwell defeating the Lady Tigers of Wirt County by the score of 59-47. The Lady Knights dominated from the opening tip off with a stingy full court press that kept the Tigers off balance and unable to get any offense going.
Katie Grimm led the Knights with 20 points, six rebounds and four steals. She was followed by Braeden Wall with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Juliana Lattea added nine points and dominated on the boards with 22 rebounds. Alexis chipped in with four points and five rebounds and Riley Stover rounded out the scoring with two points and seven steals.
The Lady Knights will now begin play in the Boggs Roundball Classic on Thursday, January 11 when they host the winless Lady Blue Eagles of Magnolia High School at 7:30.
Lady Knights Victorious Over Rival Magnolia
The Lady Knights of Tyler Consolidated picked up win number four defeating Magnolia by the score of 68-11 in the first round of the Boggs Pizza Roundball Classic on Thursday, January 11. It was all Tyler as they jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first period and extended that lead to 45-6 by halftime. Ryland Henderson had 15 points for the Lady Knights connecting on three 3-points shots in the first quarter. She also pulled down four rebounds and had three steals. Braeden Wall added 16 points, also hitting three baskets from behind the arc. Braeden also had three rebounds and five steals.
Also in double figures was Erin Riffle with 11 points including three 3-point shots. Other leaders for the Lady Knights were Riley Stover with nine points, two assists and six steals, Katie Grimm with eight points and three steals, Maleah Weber was strong on defense with five steals and Alexis Livingston pulled down six rebounds for the now 4-6 Lady Knights.
The win put the Knights in the championship game on Saturday January 13 at the Castle in Kidwell against Clay Battelle.
