Tyler Consolidated Boys Basketball
The Silver Knights boys basketball team traveled to Wirt County on Wednesday, January 10 to take on the Tigers and came home on the short end of a 63-51 setback. The Silver Knights held a slim seven point lead at halftime but a big third quarter that saw the Tigers outscore the Silver Knights by 10 points forced the Knights to have a big fourth quarter to stage the comeback. However, the Knights offense remained cold and the Tigers again outscored the Knights to secure the victory.
Leading the Silver Knight offense was the always dependable Brady Strode with 19 points. He was followed by Garrett Bordenkircher with nine. Bo Tallman with eight, including two from behind the arc. Zade Billings and Brody Giovinazzo each added five points.
The Silver Knights will host the annual Boggs Roundball Classic on January 11, 12 and 13. The Knights will play Tucker County on Friday Jan 12 and meet up with rival Magnolia on January 13.
Silver Knights Drop Opener in the Boggs Classic
The Silver Knights opened the Boggs Pizza Roundball Classic falling to the Double A Number 1 ranked Tucker County Mountain Lions by the score of 76-43. The game was close after the first quarter with the Knights trailing 16-12 but a big second quarter by the hot shooting Mountain Lions saw their lead increase to 32-16 at the break. Tucker continued their offensive dominance in the second half to secure the victory.
Tyler was led by Brady Strode with 11 points and Zade Billings with seven. Bo Tallman and Jayce Miller would each add six points, followed by Zayden Hardbarger with four, Brody Giovinazzo with five and Tristen Tuttle and Cole Lemaster each with two.
Silver Knights Fall to Rival Magnolia In Boggs Roundball Classic
Tyler Consolidated met up with rival Magnolia on Saturday afternoon, at Tyler Consolidated High School in the Boggs Pizza Roundball Classic but fell short by the score of 55-46. The Knights led 10-7 after one quarter but Magnolia would outscore Tyler by 13 points in the second quarter to go up by one 20-19 at the break. Following halftime the Blue Eagles came out on fire with Kingston Christen knocking in nine points in the quarter to lead the Blue Eagles to a 20-6 third quarter advantage and give them a 15 point edge heading into the last eight minutes of play. The Silver Knights then put together a nice fourth quarter outsourcing the Blue Eagles 21-13, but still fell nine points short at the buzzer.
Leading the way for the Blue Eagles was a trio of double figure scorers with Kingston Christen knocking in 17, Eli Midcap hitting for 15, and Hayden Pyles tossing in 14. Dubale Greathouse added eight markers and grabbed 11 rebounds for a good nights work. Hunter Oates hit a free throw to round out the scoring.
For the Silver Knights, Brady Strode led the way with a game high 22 points, including a pair of 3’s and 3 for 4 from the free throw line. Brady Giovinazzo also hit twin figures with 10 points. Rounding out the Knights scoring was Zade Billings with three points, Garrett Bordenkircher with six, Zayden Harbarger and Jayce Miller would add two points apiece.
Magnolia hit 15 shots from the floor and made 21 of 28 from the free throw line. The Silver Knights hit 17 field goals and made 9 of16 from the free throw line.
