Ty Walton Named 1st Team All State

Tyler Consolidated was well represented on the Class A All-State Team for the 2022 season with Ty Walton leading the way being named to the first team.

Tyler Consolidated junior Ty Walton, who became the first Silver Knight to earn Little Kanawha Conference Player of the Year honors was named to the 1st Team All-State. The left-hander finished 8-2 with a 1.04 earned run average. He had 107 strikeouts in 53 2-3 innings while allowing just 16 hits and a .088 opponents’ batting average.

2nd Team Honors went to Jayden Helmick, Junior, Tyler Consolidated

Honorable Mention Honors went to Zade Billings, Tyler Consolidated, Hayden Brown, Tyler Consolidated and Caleb Starkey, Magnolia.

Tyler Consolidated Junior Ty Walton Named LKC Player of the Year.

Tyler’s Ty Walton was honored by the league coaches as the top player in the LKC for the 2022 season. Ty was stellar on the mound all year as he led the Silver Knights to their first LKC Championship in school history. In addition Coach Rob Jones was named the LKC Coach of the Year.

“Ty has worked extremely hard to get to the point he is. He’s the first LKC player of the year in school history and this was the first team conference title in school history as well,” stated Jones who was named the LKC Coach of the Year.

Ty is a kinda player who shows up before everyone else on an early Saturday practice and goes through his entire routine with his bands, waited balls, stretching and getting his arm and body ready to go. His leadership for the Knight’s baseball program has been key to our success.ã

Walton was the only pitcher to shut out Williamstown, which came during the Silver Knights victory in the LKC title game at the Sue Morris Sports Complex in Glenville.

For the year Walton went 8-2 on the mound with a 1.04 earn run average and 107 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. He only allowed 16 hits on the season. Along with a .364 batting average Walton also had eight doubles, two triples, 22 runs batted in and nine stolen bases.

Tyler Consolidated junior Jayden Helmick was also named to the first team LKC for the second consecutive year. Jayden batted .424 with four doubles, four triples, two home runs and 30 steals.

Second team All LKC went to Tyler Consolidated’s Hayden Brown.

Also named to the LKC Honorable Mention Team was Zade Billings and Weston Henderson.
