Knights Celebrate Helmick Home Run

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights opened Sectional play with a convincing 14-6 victory over Ritchie County. The win sends the Knights to a Sectional showdown with Number 1 Ranked Williamstown on Thursday May 12 in Williamstown. The win also gave the Knights a school record 21 wins on the season. Tyler jumped out to an 8-0 lead after four innings only to see Ritchie mount a comeback and score six runs in the fifth inning. The rally did not last long as the Knights came to bat in the bottom of the sixth and proceeded to add five more runs to their total to halt any Ritchie hope of pulling out the win.

Ty Walton got the win for the Knights throwing three scoreless innings striking out seven Rebel hitters. Hayden Brown came on in relief and finished out the victory striking out five. At the plate the Silver Knights were led by Mason Nichols with three RBI’s and three hits one a double. Hayden Brown helped the cause with three hits including two doubles and drove in three runs. Jayden Helmick connected on a bomb over the center field wall for a solo home run.

It will be Number 1 Yellow Jackets vs Number 2 Silver Knights in round 2 of the double elimination Sectional.
