Wildcats pick up win on senior night

Paden City played host to the Hundred Hornets on Thursday night, April 6, in boys high school baseball action. The Cat’s playing on senior night racked up an easy five inning mercy rule win 14-2. The Cat’s lone senior on the squad Brandon Hizer drilled a hard hit double to help his ball club pick up the win.

The Wildcats took an early lead and never trailed as they put nine runs on the board in the first two innings, before Hundred scored twice in the top of the third. However Paden City continued to pour it on with three runs in the third and a pair in the fourth, while holing the Hornets scoreless the rest of the way.

Aston Little got the win from the mound for the Cat’s with 11 strikeouts over five innings and giving up five hits with no walks. Will McGinnis swung the big bat for the home team as he doubled and singled to drive in three runs. Bryson Stackpole doubled home two runs, and Branden Rone also doubled for two RBI. Little helped his own cause with a single and three RBI.

Johnson took the loss for the Hornets with eight strikeouts and three walks. Morris came on in relief in the fourth and had two K’s and one walk. However, the Hornets suffered with four errors, while Paden City was error free. The Wildcats had eight hits to five for the Hornets.

Christian Fluharty had a double, single and an RBI for Hundred, while Norris had a pair of singles and Morris singled and brought in a run.
