Wildcats Drop DH at Doddridge County
Homestanding Doddridge County powered it’s way to a 21-2 five inning mercy rule win on Saturday, April 16, in the first game of a double header against the Wildcats.
The Bulldogs went up 3-0 after one inning and turned it into a rout in the second and third innings by plating 10 and 8 runs. Paden City got on the board in the top of the fifth with two runs, but it wasn’t enough to keep the game going as the mercy rule kicked in.
DeHaven was the winning pitcher for the home team throwing three innings and striking out three while walking two and giving up a hit. Cochran got the save throwing two innings striking out four batters, while walking three and giving up two earned runs.
Kaden Myers took the loss with one inning pitched as he gave up four hits, eight runs, seven earned and walked three, while striking out one. The Cats used four pitchers in the contest and allowed eight hits, 21 runs, nine walks and had six K’s.
Joey Baker had a pair of hits and scored a run for Paden City. Will McGinnis added a hit, and Myers got a hit and an RBI.
Game two saw the home team Bulldogs claim the win by a score of 10-3. The Dogs, scored a run in the bottom half of the first, but Paden City came back in the top of the second to tie things up, before the home squad plated four runs in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to pull away. The Wildcats added two more in the top of the sixth, but that was as close as they would get, as they suffered their second loss of the day.
Aston Little took the loss on the mound for the Cats going 3.1 innings giving up six hits, eight runs, three earned, four walks and striking out three. Brandon Hizer came on in relief to throw the final 2.2 innings. Jones picked up the win for Doodridge, throwing three innings before giving way to Eddy who threw the final four.
Paden City got a hit from Hizer and another from Myers for theit only hits of the game. The Cats also committed eight errors in the contest to two from Doddridge., who also had seven hits.
Wildcat Baseball Defeats Beallsville
The Paden City Wildcats baseball team would improve their record to 5-7 with an 11-0 victory over Beallsville on Wednesday, April 20. Ashton Little was excellent on the mound going the distance for the Cats holding Beallsville to only four hits while striking out 13 and surrendering one walk. Wildcat bats would come to life as they pounded out seven hits on the night. Paden City opened the game scoring four runs in the first inning, one in the second, third and fifth and two in the sixth and two in the seventh. Kaden Myers led the way going two for five with an RBI. He had support from Ashton Little one for three and one RBI and Brandon Rone one for four with three RBI’s. Will McGinnis, Bryson Stackpole and Eric William Christensen each had a hit the the Wildcats.
