Wetzel/Tyler Track League has good turnout despite nasty weather

Eight teams braved the cold, windy, rainy and snowy weather on Tuesday night, April 19, to take part in the Wetzel/ Tyler track league held at Tyler Consolidated.

The first event was the 100 meter dash with Valley high school speedster Triston Bates claiming first place with a 12.18 good for 10 points. Right on his heels was second place finisher Colton Whitehill of Hundred with a time of 12.46, good for eight points. Ritchie County and St. Marys took the next four spots.

The 200 meter dash was another photo finish as St. Marys junior Braden Hashman edged Tyler Consolidated sophomore Sean Winfrey 24.29 to 24.97. Winfrey picked up eight points for the Silver Knights. Also picking up points in the event was Whitehill from Hundred with a time of 25.94 good for fourth plave and four more Hornet points.

The 400 meter dash was owned by Ritchie County wgo claimed the top two sports. Tyler Consolidated took third place as sophomore Sage Landis ran a 57.44 to pick up six points for the Silver Knights in the event.

Magnolia came up big in the 1600 meter run with freshman Landen Davis taking first place in a close race with Ritchie Countyás Heath Knight. Davis edged him out at the finish line 5:01.36 to 5:01.68 to give the Blue Eagles 10 points. The Blue also took fourth place and sixth place in the race giving them five more points. Brady Renner came in fourth with a time of 5:14.65 and Lucas Zombotti came in sixth with a time of 5:27.17.

The 3200 meter run was won by Ritchie County who took first and second. Magnolia managed to score in the race with sophomore Shiv Patel crossing the line in fourth place with a time of 12:56.37 to add four points to Magnolia’s total.

The 110 meter hurdles went to Ritchie County, but Paden Cityás Shane Anderson placed third for six points with a time of 16.91. Magnolia took sixth place for a point on a 19.15 run from Marcus Barnes. In the 300 meter hurdles Ritchie County’s Gus Morrison claimed his second win with a time of 42.81 good for 10 points. Paden City scored in the event as Jasup Spragg came in fifth in a time of 50.09 good for two points.

In the 4x 100 meter relay Valley high school took third place behind Ritchie County who used two teams to win first and second. Valley with a team of Isaiah Bassett, Sean Bates, Triston Bates, and Gabe Royer added six points for the Lumberjacks with a time of 49.19. Tyler Consolidated came in fourth for four points with a team of Trenton Huffman, Sean Winfrey, Branson Winfrey, and Colsen Spragg. Magnolia claimed the fifth place spot with a team of Sam Mensore, Damon Shimp, Marcus Barnes, and Austin Beverlin with a time of 50.49 good for two Blue Eagle points.

The 4×200 meter relay was won by Ritchie County. Valley was second with a time of 1:41.08 just fractions of a second behind the winners. The Lumberjacks team of Isaiah Bassett, Sean Bates, Triston Bates and Andrew Shaw added eight points to their team total. Tyler took third place with a time of 1:41.68 good for six points with a team of Huffman, S. Winfrey, B. Winfrey, and Landis. Paden City was fourth with ia team of Spragg, Logan Smith, Mickey Guerra, and Anderson in a time of 1:44.91 good for four Wildcat points.

The 4×400 meter relay was also won by Ritchie County. Magnolia came in second with a time of 3:57.59 good for eight points with a team of Beverlin, Landen Davis, Barnes, and Jordan Davis. The Blue Eagles scored six more points with a third place finish in the 4×800 meter relay in a time of 9:25.37 from a team of L. Davis, Zombotti, J. Davis, and Sean Stapel.

Ritchie County won first in the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdles, while Paden City finished second in a time of 1:07.76 good for eight points from a team of Spragg, Guerra, Smith, and Anderson.

Ritchie County and Magnolia tied in the high jump with both jumpers clearing the bar at 5-06.00 for 9 points each. Valleyás Isaiah Bassett finished third for six points with a jump of 5-06 as well, and Shane Anderson of Paden City also clear 5-06 to grab fourth for four points.

Ritchie County took the first two places in the pole vault with the Silver Knights Sage Landis winning the third spot with a vault of 10-06.00 good for six points.

Ritchie County grabbed another first as all-state candidate Gus Morrison picked up his third first place of the night winning the long jump with a leap of 20-01.00 good for 10 points. Magnolia got eight points from Austin Beverlin who came in second with a leap of 19-11.00. Valley’s Triston Bates took third for six points with a leap of 19-04.50. Hundred’s Colton Whitehill got fourth with an 18-07.50 good for four points. Tyler Consolidated took fifth with a 17-11.00 from Sage Landis good for two points.

Jaden Holmes of Tyler Consolidated won the shot put with a toss of 42-02.50 good for 10 Silver Knights points. Magnolia’s Joey Dawson finished second with a toss of 40-05.00 good for eight points. and teammate Mason Bennett grabbed fifth with a 37-01.00 good for two points.

In the discus throw Holmes finished third for six points with a throw of 113-04. Magnolia’s Kolbee Cecil finished fourth with a 105-06 for four points and teammate Damon Shimp got sixth with a throw of 100-07.00 for a point.

Ritchie County won the event with 222 points, St, Marys was secons with 94, Magnolia was third with 70, Tyler Consolidated was fourth with 50, Valley High School was fifth with 38, Paden City High School was sixth with 24, Hundred High School was seventh with16 and Madonna High School was eighth with nine.

In the girls 100 meter dash Jocelyn Foltz of Tyler Consolidated came in second with a 13.43 good for eight points. Addie Tuttle of Hundred was third with a time of 14.15 good for six points. The Silver Knights picked up another point as freshman Bella Garuccio came in sixth with a time of 14.24.

In the 200 meter dash Foltz scored eight more points finishing second in a time of 28.59. In the 400 meter dash Paden City took first place as Brandis Dalrymple beat out St. Marys Virginia Haddox with a time of 1:06.02 to give the Wildcats 10 points. Haddox ran a 1:06.49. Taking third was Paden Coty sophomore Jocelyn Sawinski with a 1:08.61 good for six points. Sawinski also added four more points for Paden City with a fourth place in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:50.19. Magnolia picked up a point in the 1600 meter run as Laci Scott took sixth place in a time of 6:58.71. Rachel Snedden of Hundred grabbed second place in the 3200 meter run in a time of 14:11.60 good for eight points for the Hornets.

Hallie McDonald of Paden City claimed second place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.63 to give the Cats eight points. Magnolia’s Reese Hale finished third for six points in a time of 18.67. Paden City got fourth place from Mady Still in a time of 18.95 good for four points.

In the 300 meter hurdles Jenna Blain of Magnolia finished second for eight points in a time of 51.54 as she was edged out at the finish line by Ritchie County who had a 51.53. Hallie McDonald of Paden City grabbed the fourth place spot with a time of 55.64 goof for four points, teammate Mady Still was fifth for two points in a time of 56.53. Magnolia’s Reese Hale was sixth with a time of 57.57 good for a point.

The 4×100 meter relay was won by St. Marys. Ritchie County took second. Tyler Consolidated ended third with a team of Makayla Haught, Anna Vollmer, Bella Garuccio, and Trinity Kanz in a time of 58.02 for six points. Magnolia A team took fourth with a time of 59.07 with a team of Kierston Miller, Kaylee Cline, Sienna McKeever, and Jenna Blain good for four points. Valley was fifth with a time of 1:00.72 with a team of Kim Soles, Addison Brown, Winter Higgins, and Darsey Pittman good for two points.

Magnolia took first place in the 4×200 meter relay with a team of Delanie Postlethwait, Kaylee Cline, Sienna McKeever, and Jenna Blain good for 10 points in a time of 1:56.61. Valley was third with a time of 2:05.54 with a team of Kim Soles, Darsey Pittman, Tessa Dulaney, and Winter Higgins good for six points. Tyler Consolidated got four points with a team of Raylynn Roberts, Anna Vollmer, Mariah King, and Trinity Kanz with a time of 2:09.29.

In the girls 4×400 meter relay Magnolia took second place with a time of 4:44.75 to pick up eight points with a team of Isabella Washer, Laci Scott, Shy Simmons, and Kaylee Cline.

Paden City won the 4×102.5 meter shuttle hurdles with a time of 1:14.98 good for 10 first place points with a team of Marie Schramm, Mady Still, Brandis Dalrymple, and Hallie McDonald. Tyler Consolidated was second with a 1:16.33 good for eight points from a team of Makayla Haught, Trinity Kanz, Bridget Doak, and Bella Garuccio. Magnolia was third with a time of 1:16.96 good for six points from a team of Shaea Holliday, Emma Spitzer, Jenna Blain, and Reese Hale. Valley high school picked up two points with a fifth place finish in a time of 1:25.84 from a team of Addison Brown, Darsey Pittman, Madelyn Campbell, and Kasey Barker.

Bella Garuccio finished third in the high jump for Tyler with a 4-08.00 good for six points. Paden City’s Dalrymple was fourth with a 4-04.00 good for four Wildcat points. Tyler took fifth and sixth place with Mackenzie Henthorn getting two points with a jump of 4-04.00 and Kanz jumping 4-02.00 for one point. In the pole vault Magnolia’s Jaci Rohde came in third with a vault of 7-00.00 good for six points for the Blue Eagles. In the long jump Rohde won first with a leap of 15-10.00 good for 10 Magnolia points. Paden City sophomore Sawinski was second with a leap of 15-05.00 good for eight points. Foltz of Tyler Consolidated was third with a 14-01.00 good for six points. Marie Schramm of Paden City was fourth with a leap of 14-00.00 good for four points. Winter Higgins of Valley was fifth with a 13-10.00 for two points, and Hundred’s Addie Tuttle took sixth with a 13-05.00 for a point.

Magnolia picked up eight points in the shot put on a 27-07.00 toss by Jaci Rohde. The Silver Knights Sydney Deaton got fifth for two points with a toss of 26-06.00. Leah Delaney of Hundred took sixth place for a point with a throw of 26-05.00.

In the discus throw Sydney Deaton took second place with a heave of 85-08 good for eight points for the Silver Knights. Hundred’s Areonna Zarco got fourth with a throw of 77-11 good for four points.

St. Marys and Ritchie County tied as winners with scores of 121, Magnolia was third with 68 points, Paden City fourth with 64 points, Tyler Consolidated fifth with 60 points, Madonna sixth with 50, Hundred seventh with 30, and Valley eighth with 12.
