TCHS Improves to 11-2 With Win Over Beallsville
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights defeated Beallsville 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday, April 12 in Kidwell. Carson Gorby got the win for the Knights pitching three scoreless innings striking out five. He also selected a single, double with two RBI’s. Zade Billings had a good night at the plate driving in three runs with a double and a sacrifice. Garrett Ammons also had three RBI’s with a double. Ty Ferrell came in and relief of Gorby going two innings striking out three Beallsville hitters. Utility fielder Jayce Miller also collected an RBI.
TCHS Defeats Doddridge
The Silver Knights baseball team continued their winning ways with a 7-1 victory over Doddridge County in West Union on Wednesday April 13. Jayden Helmick picked up the win for the Knights pitching five and two-thirds innings striking out 12 batters while only giving up three hits. At the plate Helmick was two for three with one RBI. Ty Walton came on in the sixth inning facing one batter with a strike out. Hayden Brown closed out the game in the seventh surrendering an inside the park home run for the Bulldogs only run of the game. Offensively the Knights would pound out 10 hits with Ty Walton going two for three, Carson Gorby two for four with one RBI and designated hitter Garrett Ammons going one for three with two RBIás.
The Knights improved to 12-2 with the victory and will host Ravenswood on Thursday, April 14.
Walton Fires a No Hitter vs Ravenswood
Ty Walton was in total command on the mound on Thursday April 14 tossing the fourth no hitter of his career as the Silver Knights defeated Ravenswood by the score of 10-0. Walton struck out 13 Ravenswood batters while only giving up four walks in the six inning victory. At the plate he collected an RBI single. Jayden Helmick had a double and two RBI’s while Alec Chaplin had two doubles and drove in two runs. Catcher Zade Billings had two hits including a double and one RBI. Western Henderson had two hits and one RBI, Hayden Brown and Owen Westbrook each had singles and an RBI. Tyler is now 13-2 on the season.
The Knights will play the winner of the Frontier/Magnolia game on Saturday, April 16 in the Boggs Wooden Bat Classic at 2:30.
Tyler Consolidated Wins Matt Boggs Wooden Bat Classic
Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights hosted the sixth annual Matt Boggs Wooden Bat Classic on Saturday, April 16 at the Castle. Game 1 featured Frontier taking on Magnolia with Frontier coming out on top by the score of 20-1 in a five inning game. That set up the championship game between Frontier and the Silver Knights with the Knights coming out on top of a hard fought 6-2 victory. The Silver Knights fell behind early when Frontier jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning. Tyler would answer in the bottom of the second scoring two runs to tie the game. Tyler would add one run in the third and three in the sixth to take the win. The Knights pounded out eight hits for the game and only committed one error. Hayden Brown took the mound for the Knight’s going seven innings giving up five hits and two runs while striking out six to pick up the win. Hayden was also stellar at the plate going two for two and scoring one run. Six other Silver Knights contributed to the hit parade with Jayden Helmick going one for four with one RBI, Zade Billings one for three with one RBI, Ty Walton one for three with one RBI, Alec Chaplin one for three with one RBI, Mason Nichols one for two and Owen Westbrook one for two with two RBI’s.
TCHS will leave for Myrtle Beach on Monday April 18 to play in the Mingo Bay Classic where they will take on Williamsburg Academy, who is the defending small school champions in South Carolina, Lake City and Liberty High School also from South Carolina.
