ST. MARYS — After splitting during the regular season, Tyler Consolidated and Ritchie County’s boys’ basketball teams met for the third time on Friday in the Class A Region One, Section Two Quarterfinal game. The game proved to be everything it was thought to be as the teams battled back and forth all game long.

Tyler Consolidated jumped a head by three after one period 20-17, but the Rebels came roaring back in the second and outscored the Knights 15-7 to take five point halftime lead. The third period was nearly even as the Rebels gained a point and went up by six heading down the stretch. The never say die Silver Knights, behind a game high 22 points from senior ace Jace Reed, out scored Ritchie 21-17 in the fourth, but it was to little too late and the Rebels moved on with a tight 60-58 last second win.

Sophomore point guard Dylan Roberts was the only other double digit scorer for the Silver Knights as he found his way with 11 points including a trio of 3’s. Nate Lancaster and Mark Wilson also knocked down a three for the Knights as did Reed. Adding to Tyler Consolidated’s total was Quintin Richmond with eight and Tyler Anderson with seven. Griffin Phillips added four points, two steals and two assists.

Richmond, who fouled out with a little over a minute to go, had a big game on the boards as he collared 13 rebounds to go with three blocks. Anderson provided ample help on the boards with eight grabs. Roberts led the team in assists with five while Reed had four steals and seven boards.
