SISTERSVILLE – Athletes of the week for Oct. 26 are Tyler Consolidated’s Tyler Anderson and Abbie Fletcher.

Anderson came up big in the win over New Martinsville on Friday as he rushed 22 times for 148 yards, stopped Magnolia by intercepting two passes, scored on a 29-yard pass reception from Griffin Phillips and recorded six solo tackles with two assists. The Silver Knights now stand at 5-3 on season and Anderson has been a big part in their success as he has scored 96 points in eight games.

Fletcher celebrated senior volleyball night with a Silver Knights quad match win over Parkersburg South, Phillip Barbour and Robert C. Byrd. During the match with Phillip Barbour, she was awarded the game ball by Coach Richard Summers after she recorded her 1,000th career kill in the first set. Fletcher is a four-year starter for the Knights’ volleyball team. On Saturday at the LKC night of champions Fletcher was at her best as she hammered down 29 kills in the win over Calhoun County and 17 kills in the final match against Williamstown.

Special honorable mentioned goes out to Griffin Phillips, Jace Reed, Wesley Watson, Brandon Keys and Trent Smith for their part in the big win over the Magnolia Blue Eagles.

Honorable mention this week goes to Tyler Consolidated cross country runners Gavin Corley who was the first Knights finisher at the Regional State meet with a time of 19:27, also breaking the 20 minute mark were Josh Frum, 19:40, Nathan Barker, 19:54 and Creed Ammons, 19:55. Tyler Consolidated girls were led by Jahnvi Duncan with a time of 21:52 and a 19th overall finish.
