Athlete of the Week
SISTERSVILLE – Jace Reed of Tyler Consolidated and Hayden Hizer of Paden City have been chosen for athletes of the Week for October 19.
Reed had an all around solid game in the Knights’ loss to number two South Harrison as he scored four times on pass receptions from Griffin Phillips and ended with 85 yards on seven receptions while also picking up 83 yards on 20 totes to end with 168 total yards. Reed scored a touchdown in each quarter to help keep the game close. Reed is a senior four year letterman with plans to enter college upon graduation. For the year Reed has scored 90 points on 10 rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns. He has 686 rushing yards on 103 carries for a 6.7 per carries average.
Hizer was a work horse for the Wildcats in their 43-20 homecoming win over Hannan. A late arrival to the Wildcat team Hizer has proved his worth and opposing teams are taking notice. On Friday, he delighted the crowd with two first quarter scores on a eight yard run and then tacked on another when he broke free for an 82 yard run down the right sideline to give the Wildcats the lead for good. Near the end of the third period, he added a 33 yard run for his third score of the game. He also got two points on a conversion run and fired a two point conversion pass. All told, Hizer ended with 176 rushing yards on 17 carries and 51 yards on four receptions. Hizer is a three sport star who is looking for a college career playing baseball.
Special Honorable mention goes to Aaron Heasley of Paden City who had had two touchdown runs and threw another in the win over Hannan. Also Special honorable mention goes to Tyler Consolidated’s Tyler Anderson and Phillips. Anderson scored twice and ended with 115 yards rushing on just eight carries and Phillips threw for four scores and 130 yards.
