The annual Silver Knights Volleyball Camp concluded on Thursday with a record number attending the middle school division. The camp has been held for the past 12 years and is hosted by the Knights and conducted by coaches from Marshall University.

“While most of the campers have a desire to play middle school or high school volleyball, we also have quite a few who come to have a good time and make new friends,” said TCHS Volleyball Coach Richard Summers.

This year, campers came from not only Tyler County but several other communities including Williamstown, Doddridge, Paden City and Shortline just to name a few.

Marshall University head coach Mitch Jacobs was complimentary of the campers, saying “They work hard and listen well, which is why it is my favorite camp.”

Coach Summers offered high praise for the Marshall staff for their dedication and passion toward area kids.

He also was proud of how many high school kids volunteered to help the younger kids and serve as positive role models. Special thanks to TCHS Principal Kent Yoho for getting the floor sanded and varnished in time for camp.

Next year’s camp is already being planned and will once again be held the last week of July.
