Knights Jr. Golf Camp To Be Held
The TCHS Knights Golf Team and Sistersville Country Club will host the 6th Annual Knights Junior Golf Camp for boys and girls entering grades 3 through 8 this fall. The camp will be held in the evenings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 13-14-15, 2016, from 6-8:30 at the country club. The directors will be Joe Griffith and David Tucker, TCHS/TCMS golf coaches, assisted by members of the TCHS Knights Golf Team and members of Sistersville Country Club.
Instruction will include an introduction to the game of golf, instruction in various shots involved in a round of golf, and an introduction to the rules and etiquette of golf.
For their $25 registration fee, each student will also receive a camp T-shirt, a rules booklet, a bag of tees and a sleeve of golf balls.

Sports Physicals Set at Fire Hall
Sistersville General Hospital will be conducting sports physicals which are needed to participate in local youth/prep athletics, between 9 a.m. and noon June 9 at the fire hall. The cost is $10 and parental consent forms must be signed. The proceeds from the sports physicals will benefit the SGH Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact 304-447-2454.
Free Swims Offered At Sistersville Pool
There will be free swim days on June 18 (during Paws in the Park), June 27 (sponsored by Sistersville Lions), and July 30 (during the Ohio River Ferryboat Festival). Other free swim days will be posted on the Sistersville Park & Pool Facebook page as they are booked.
Courtesy of Olive Branch Animal Rescue and Refuge, free swims will also be available July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27 and Aug. 3, which also has a pet “show and tell.” Take part in games, arts and crafts and other activities. The group’s dip in the pool is part of its Pets for Prevention Pets program, which is designed to educate youth about the Olive Branch’s mission while encouraging them to set positive goals for themselves. Caring for and understanding the needs of animals can serve as a strong protective factor in preventing abuse and neglect. Having a connection with community efforts can also encourage healthy decisions. During the swim breaks, you can visit with the animals, learn to care for pets and sign up to visit or volunteer for the Olive Branch R&R located at 2499 Badger Run Road, Sistersville.
There will also be a Midnight Swim from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. June 25. That event will be free to the public. Thank you all for your support of Sistersville Parks & Recreation, the Olive Branch Animal Rescue & Refuge, and so many other great community organizations!
PC 5K Run/Walk
The 6th annual Paden City Foundation 5K Run and Walk will be Saturday, June 4. This year’s race has a new benefactor, the WVU Children’s Hospital. The race will also provide funds for the Paden City Museum. This is the 6th year for the Foundation 5K and the start and finish line is at Centennial Park (3rd Avenue and Main Street). Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. and the gun will sound to start the race at 9 a.m.
The course is 90 percent flat and 100 percent paved and volunteers will be manning most intersections to ensure proper traffic flow. A water stop will be available at the halfway mark and it will be encountered twice by the runners and walkers (near the entrance of Paden City Park). Registration fee (on-line or using the standard paper form) is $15 if received by May 27. After May 27, the fee goes to $20. Registration forms can also be downloaded from the aptiming site and also from the rivercityrunners.com website. Paper forms can be picked up at the Paden City location of Wesbanco, Chen’s Garden in Paden City, Quinet’s Restaurant in New Martinsville and at Packy’s in Paden City. The Parkersburg Summer NAYS Regional basketball tournament will be held at Parkersburg, Parkersburg South and The Elite Sports Center June 3-5 in Parkersburg.
