Tyler Consolidated Captures Sectional Crown

The Silver Knights pulled off a thrilling eight-inning win over St. Mary’s on May 4 to capture the Region 1, Section 4, championship.

The win capped off a 3-game series with St. Mary’s winning the first matchup and the Silver Knights rallying to claim the second game to forge ahead for the sectional crown in the third game.

During the championship game, both teams battled back and forth for the first five innings when St. Mary’s crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth to move ahead 3-2 entering the Knights’ last at bat. Tyler then used some heroics of its own in the seventh when Madison Lasick knocked a blooper over third for a single and then advanced to second on an infield out by Brianna Wade. JoLee Walton then drilled a shot up the middle to drive in the tying run. With the rain starting to come down harder, the Knights left two on base giving the Blue Devils a last chance. Vanessa Templeton got the Devils out in order to send the game into extra innings tied at three.

The Silver Knights put two runs on the board in the eighth when Kylie Martin knocked in Templeton and Joralda Rice knocked in Madison West to give the Knights a lead they would not relinquish for the 5-3 win. Templeton worked the full eight innings to get the win, striking out three batters and walking four with a five-hit game. The Silver Knights out hit the Blue Devil’s 11-5.

For the Knights, Walton went 2-4 from the plate with a double and an RBI while scoring a run. Martin also was 2-4 with an RBI while Lasick got two hits in four attempts and scored a run. Templeton added an RBI on 1-4 effort and scored a run. West scored a run and was 1-4 at the plate while Rhianna Long added a single and Rice was 2-4 with an RBI.

Tyler Consolidated will travel tomorrow night to Clay Battelle for a 7:30 game in the regional championship.

Silver Knights Force Game Three

During game two, Tyler Consolidated played as the visitors on their home field on May 3. The Silver Knights were able to pull out a 5-1 win over St. Mary’s in the second game of the double-elimination sectional tournament to advance to the deciding game three.

Madison West got the win from the circle for the Knights as she gave up five hits while striking out three and walking two.

St. Mary’s scored first in the bottom of the second but the Silver Knights came back in the fourth and plated four runs while adding an insurance run in the sixth. The Knights had 13 hits in the game with Madison Lasick going 4-4 and scoring a run. Templeton went 2-3 with an RBI and Kylie Martin also went 2-3 and scored a run.

Walton and West both had good nights at the plate with Walton knocking in three runs with two doubles on 2-3 hitting while scoring a run. West added a double while going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Joralda Rice added a triple on three at bats an scored a run.

Knights Fall in sectional Game to St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s won the first of two games against 7-1 against Tyler Consolidated on May 3 as it pounded out 11 hits to the Knights’ eight, putting seven runs on the board in the middle innings. Walton knocked in the lone run for Tyler. Templeton, Kylie Martin and Rice all went 2-3 from the plate while West and Rhianna Rice both chipped in with singles.

Templeton took the loss for the Silver Knights as she struck out two and walked three while giving up 11 hits and seven runs. The Knights also had seven errors to none for St. Mary’s.

Tyler Wins First Sectional Game Against Valley

Tyler Consolidated and the Valley Lumber Jills squared off in the first game of the Region 1, Section 4, softball tournament on May 2 at the Silver Knights field. The Knights shut the Lumber Jills down in order in the first and then put eight runs on the board and then took a commanding 15-0 lead into the fifth inning.

Valley battled back in the top of the fifth to score five runs, but it was to little to late and the Knights advanced to Tuesday’s game with St. Mary’s which also downed Valley 16-0 on Monday.

Templeton got the win by throwing a one-hitter over the first three innings before giving way to West. Templeton struck out three batters while giving up no walks. The Silver Knights out hit Valley 15-8 in route to the win. West swung a bit bat for the Silver Knights as she pounded out two triples, scored a pair of runs, and had three RBI on 3-3 at bats. Supporting West was Templeton with her own triple as she went 2-3 at the plate and scored a run while also adding three RBI

Danielle Grimes had two RBI on a double. Rhianna Long 1-1 and two RBI while Kenna Smith went 1-1 with an RBI, and a run scored. Lasick was also 1-1 with an RBI and two runs scored. Walton went 1-3 at the plate, adding a run scored and an RBI. Kylie Martin hit well, going 2-4 and scoring twice.

Joralda Rice had a double knocking in two runs while scoring a run. Taylor Ebert and Wade each had a single for Tyler.
