Lady Eagles Win WTTL Victory

The Magnolia girls track team finished first once more in the WTTL April 5 at Tyler Consolidated, scoring 78 points, while Tyler finished second with 56.5 and Paden City third with 30.5 points in a three-team meet.

Sydney Glover of Tyler Consolidated and teammate Isis Moore finished one-two in the 100-meter dash, while Kallie Arnett of Paden City finished third. Isis turned around and nosed out the Eagles’ Alayna Cline and Kennedy Parsons in the 200-meter dash. Gabby Cecil would cross the finish line first in the 400-meter dash, while Jahnvi Duncan and Belle Pettus of Tyler Consolidated placed second and third, respectively.

In the 1,600-meters, Cameron Melott of Magnolia finished in the top spot over teammates Bri Ritz and Rachel Arbogast.

Breanna Barbera beat out teammate Jordan Delaney in another photo finish, while teammate Ariel Hostuttler finished a close third.

In the hurdle events, Cedar Sands of Magnolia finished first, while the Wildcats’ Malayna Price and the Knights’ Belle Camerlin finished second and third, respectively.

In the relay events, Paden City won the 100- and 200-meter relay events, while placing second in the shuttles, with Magnolia coming in first. The Lady Knights foursome was the clear winner in the 400-relay race. Bailey Estep of Magnolia won the high jump over teammates Alayna Cline and Rachel Arbogast, while teammate Kristen Massey nosed out the Knights Emily Lancaster of Tyler Consolidated.

Estep also won the long jump over the Knights’ Lancaster and the Eagles Olivia Mensore. Magnolia’s Anna Zills won the shot-put event over the Knights Morgan Maston and Abby Kemp. Zills also won the discus, with the Knights’ Tessa Boyd and the Wildcats’ Chelsea Dennissecond and third, respectively.
