Cooper, Reynolds Named Athletes of the Week
The Athletes of the Week come from Paden City and Tyler Consolidated.
Luke Cooper, a four-year varsity starter for Paden City, finished his basketball career on March 1 against Morgantown Trinity. Cooper, who has more than 1,100 points since becoming a Wildcat, led his team in scoring in the loss with 17 points. He has been our choice on several occasions this year and with baseball coming up, he may very well be chosen again. Cooper – at 6’5” – has made it hard on opposing teams this year, sometimes drawing double and triple coverage. He is a good foul shooter and has a variety of moves to keep the defense off balance.
For Tyler Consolidated, this week’s choice is Amanda Reynolds, a sophomore forward for Coach Cathy Boggs ‘ club. She led the team in scoring in the regional loss to Weirton Madonna as she hit for 19 for the Lady Knights. Reynolds has good ball skills and is not afraid to take it to the hoop. Her near perfect form jump shot makes her a threat from outside as well. She will be back for the next two years and could become one of the premier players in the Ohio Valley. Reynolds is also a good defensive player who is quick and moves her feet well.
Earning honorable mention this week is Josey Jones and Ariel Fish from Tyler Consolidated and Deven Price from Paden City.
