Tyler Silver Knights Win Home Tri-Match on Senior Night

The Silver Knights honored their senior wrestlers as they played host to Fort Frye and Ritchie County in a tri-match tournament Jan. 20.

The Silver Knights took down both Fort Frye and Ritchie County to come away with the tri-match win. Brandon Keys had two wins in the 195 pound weight class with a pin and one win by decision. Chase Cooper added to his victory total with two more wins both by pins. Cory Chipps also got two pins on the night. Billy Anderson, Cody Hunter and Colton Mead all added points to the win with pins.

The tournament was only one way these athletes took centerstage.

During Senior Night, Cooper, a four-year wrestling letterman with more than 100 wins in his career who has qualified for state and also has been a LKC placer, was escorted to the mats by his parents Virgil and Tracy Cooper. He has plans to attend WVU and major in chemical engineering.

William Chapman was escorted to the mats by his mom Jamie Chapman. The young man has been a two-year letterman for the Silver Knights and placed fifth at the regionals. Upon graduation, he plans to enter the Army as a career.

Nathan Eddy, a three-year letterman, was escorted to the mats by his mother Tina Eddy. He placed fifth at the regionals and second at the River tournament. The young man plans to attend West Liberty University and pursue a degree in computer information systems and Spanish.

Escorted by Head Wrestling Coach Chad Snider, Zach Bonner has been a part of the wrestling team for four years. He plans to enter college for a career in criminal justice.
