Soccer Ladies looking to add wins to record

By Staff | Oct 2, 2013

Frustration seems to be the name of the game for the Tyler Consolidated Lady Knight soccer team this season as the Ladies in Silver and Black are finding it difficult to add to their win column.

On Sept. 26 the Lady Knights hosted Indian Creek at Brubacher Field and wound up with the loss, 5-1, at the end of the day.

“We had some problems,” said head coach of the Consolidated team, Matt Kinnard.

“As I’ve said before, we’re still learning and growing, but our defense should have been better.”

Haleigh Smith kicked in the only Knight goal of the day on the assist by Sophie Kinnard.

In the keeper position, Kinnard had 10 saves. Keeper Vanessa Templeton in the goal keepers position had 13 saves for the Knights.

Tyler Consolidated played at John Marshall on Tuesday and will host Magnolia on Oct. 3.

Both the Lady Knights and Lady Eagles will join forces during the game on Thursday to sponsor a “Pink Out – Kickin’ it for the Cure” benefit to raise funds for cancer.

“We have two teams here with one goal,” coach Kinnard said. “We’d like to be able to raise a lot of money to donate to the cause and we’d like to invite everyone out to take part.”
