Lady Wildcats fall in tourney
The Paden City Lady Wildcats hosted their annual Bob and Sharon Burton Holiday Girls’ Basketball Tournament Dec 2-3, with the Valley Lumberjills and Hundred Lady Hornets in attendance. Both teams handed the ‘Cats defeats however, to the tune of 43-29 and 47-39, respectively. The Lady Cee Bee’s Clay-Battelle would take home the championship defeating the Valley Lumberjills, 71-43 in the championship.
In the opener of the tournament, Clay-Battelle broke open a close game with a 21-5 run in the second quarter, and held on for a 53-30 victory.
Against Valley, Paden City held their own until the Jills went on a 23-9 fourth period run to knockoff the Wildcats, 43-29 to claim the ther spot in the finals.
Senior Amanda Heasley and Sam Shreves each tallied five-points for the Green and grabbed six rebounds to pace the ‘Cats, while Dominique Craft, Lynnsie Parsons, and Logan Cosper each netted four markers. Parsons and Heasley each swatted away four ‘Jill shots.
Mara Greathouse scored three points and hauled in a game-high 10 ebounds, while Hannah Stanley and Kayla Hizer each scored two-points.
Paden City had the lead in the second half over Hundred for the second straight night, only to see the Lady Hornets go on a 21-11 run to gain a 47-39 victory.
Senior Dominique Craft paced the ‘Cats with 12-points. While playing most of the game in foul trouble, Craft also added six rebounds, two assists, one block and had three steals.
Logan Cosper netted nine points, including one from beyond the arch. She also had two steals and dished out three assists. Heasley kept the Lady ‘Cats within reach by scoring eight-points, pulling down 12 rebounds, blocking three shots and had two steals.
Shreves tallied seven points and Stanley swished a three pointer; Parsons had three steals, two assists two blocks; Hizer dished out a pair of assists.
The Lady Cee-Bees broke open a close game with a 18-3 run to beat Valley, 71-43 to win the Lady Wildcat Christmas Classic.

Special thank you’s go out from all the teams participating in the tournament to the many parents contributing to the hospitality room. The Lady Wildcats continued their season on Dec. 6 at Hundred. The team will see action against the Cameron Lady Dragons on Dec. 13 and will host Beallsville on Dec. 17.
