‘Cats finish with 2-8 record

By Staff | Nov 10, 2010

The Wildcats of Paden City finished the 2010 High School football season at home on Friday by hosting the Bishops of Bishop Donahue. Looking for their second win of the season, the ‘Cats had their work cut out for them with the 9-0 Bishops, who wound up with a perfect season record after the 61-0 defeat of the ‘Cats at Berger Field.

“We were physically out matched,” said head coach of the Wildcats, Brent Croasmun. “Bishop has a heck of a team and some really good athletes. They’re on a roll this year, and we just couldn’t match up to them.”

“Our kids did what they could, but we were just out played.”

Offensively, Paden City’s Geoffrey Bidwell rushed for 37 yards on 17 carries. He also completed two of eight passes for 19 yards. Drew Bidwell completed one of seven passes for 18 yards.

Taylor Still caught two passes in the game for 29 yards, and Peyton Hinkley caught one pass for eight yards.

Defensively, Keith Hardbarger had seven tackles, two for a loss and Kyle McFadden had four tackles.

The Wildcats will put the season behind them now and look to a brighter future on the football fields of the Ohio Valley next year. “We learned a lot this year,” the coach said of his team of inexperienced players.

“We’ll return 12 or 13 seniors, most of our underclassmen who have all seen a lot of playing time this year, along with several incoming freshmen. Hopefully “

“We’re hoping to have enough kids out in order to be able to scrimmage ourselves, that would help tremendously. But, no matter, how ever many we have out, we’ll give it our best shot, just like we did this year.”

“Our kids played hard this year, and I’m proud of them for doing their best. We’ve had good fan support and excellent booster support, and we’re hoping to have a better season next year.”
