Lady Knights fall to Creek

By Staff | Oct 6, 2010

Only one game was on the schedule for the Lady Knights of Tyler Consolidated High School last week, as the team hosted Indian Creek. Though the team met defeat, 5-2, head coach Cliff Warner said it was one of the better games his team has played this year.

“I know we lost, and of course it would have been nice to win, but I was very pleased with the way our kids played in this game. Jackie Clark stepped up and came into her own in this one and Alexis Ebert, Maddie Shablowski and Tara Weese gave an excellent defensive effort. And I can’t say enough about our subs (substitutions), they went in and gave 100 percent. I was very, very pleased.”

Clark scored the only two Silver Knight goals.

“Our kids did not give up for the full 80 minutes on the field,” Warner said. “And this was a pretty physical game. We had a couple of opportunities, but we just couldn’t get the win.”

Warner also said the game was very well attended and both he and his team appreciated the support, both from the community as well as the students and other athletes at Tyler Consolidated.

“We had a very nice turn out for the game and the girls were so happy to have so many people there. We certainly appreciate the support.”

The Silver Knight Ladies have three games on tap this week: they played at Weirton on Tuesday; Will travel to South Harrison on Thursday and will play at Wheeling Central on Saturday. The team will host Liberty Harrison at home on Oct. 11.
