Tyler Consolidated netters win two on the road
At the mid-point of the season, Tyler Consolidated’s Lady Knight varsity volleyball team is in fine shape with 15 wins and four losses on the year.
The Ladies in Silver and Black traveled to Weir last week to take on Weir, Magnolia and Oak Glen in a tri, and came with two wins and a loss on the day.
At Weir on Sept. 25 the Lady Knight volleyball team defeated the Lady Riders of Weir handily, 25-17 and 26-24. Senior Heather Suter had six kills, one block, seven digs and scored eight points in the game. Lynsey Casteel clobbered nine kills, and blocked three; Allison Clegg had one kill and one block; Makayla Clegg registered one kill; Sami Jones had one kill, five points and two aces; Alison Wable was credited with one kill; Whitney Williams had two kills, three digs and scored 12; Torrye Cline had five digs and scored two; and Sydney Reed scored two points, one ace. Setter Keri Suter set the ball 38 times in the match, was credited with 17 assists and had four digs.
Against Magnolia, the Knights took the match in three games, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-11. Heather Suter had 13 kills, four digs, two points and one ace. Casteel had 10 power kills and three blocks. Jones had 11 kills, five digs, 11 points, two aces; Wable registered three kills, two blocks, four digs; Williams had three digs, eight points and an ace; Cline had 13 digs and three points; Reed scored three points; and Alison Clegg had one block.
Keri Suter set the ball 65 times and assisted 32 times. She scored nine points, one ace and had four digs.
The Silver Ladies took the loss to the team from Oak Glen in three, 23-25, 25-23, and 25-16.
Heather Suter was credited with 11 kills, one block, seven digs, four points and one ace; Casteel had seven kills, six blocks; Alison Clegg, six kills, six blocks; Jones, five digs, two points, one kill, one block; Wable, two digs, one kill; Williams, three points, seven digs and six kills; Cline, 11 digs, six points. Keri Suter had 61 good sets and 30 assists. She scored seven points, two aces and six digs.
On Sept. 30 the team will play at Parkersburg Catholic at 6 p.m. and will host Paden City, Calhoun and Williamstown on Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. in a quad.
